Happy New Year!

I hope each of you had a happy and safe New Year. If you missed ushering in 2012 with a party as you may have wished to do, why not celebrate on Chinese New Year?

This year is the Year of the Dragon to include the Metal Dragons born in the years of 1940, 2000; the Water Dragons born in 1952, 1912; the Wood Dragons born in 1904 and 1954; the Fire Dragons, born in 1916 and 1976; and the Earth Dragons born in the years of 1928 and 1988.

Generally speaking, the Dragon rules the fifth sign of the Chinese Zodiac. It is known to be the strongest of signs much like Leo which rules the fifth house of our Tropical Zodiac. Just as Leo, Dragons symbolize dominance and ambition, preferring to live by their own rules and work alone. Most, they are successful and unafraid of challenges. Willing to risk it all, they rarely ask for help. There is much to say about the personality of the Dragon as well as the Rat, Ox, Tiger, Rabbit, Snake, Horse, Goat, Monkey, Rooster, Dog and Pig but there are many websites and books available to seek further information.

Speaking of the Zodiac, Mars moves into its Retrograde position on 23 Jan at 23 degrees of Virgo and remains in its retrograde position until April 14 when the planet finally goes direct at 3 degrees of Virgo. If you have read my book, “Timing is Everything; Astrology is the Key” by Wes Alistair, you know that for the eighty days that Mars is retrograde, it is at it’s strongest. You may order this book either from me or from Amazon.com.

Happy Birthday Aquarius!

Aquarius Rising
By Weslynn McCallister

Child of Uranus, Aquarius Rising is a fixed air sign. Unpredictable as a bolt of lightning, he is brilliant and unique.

Tall, slender, and attractive with prominent bone structure, his style and attire are unusual.

Logical, intuitive and psychic, he possesses an independent nature and is unconcerned with others opinions.

Reliable and kindhearted, Aquarius Rising is a fine friend. He is often found among astrologers, alternative health therapists, and in electronics and telecommunications.

HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Christmas is approaching and Mercury is moving into its Direct motion tomorrow, December 14. Expect traffic to snarls to ease, communications to clear, and transportation to become easier. What could be a better gift from the Stars!

If you are ill or homebound, consider shopping-on-line or giving a gift card. If still don’t have any idea what your friend or loved one would like, but have a copy of my new book, "Romancing the Zodiac-Book Two" by Wes Alistair, you will find a list of suggested gifts for each sign. The Band
By Weslynn McCallister

The rhythmic beat of the drums in the old café’ near water’s edge beckons on a late winter’s eve.

As a brisk northeast wind kisses cheeks of cherry red, the tantalizing wail of a saxophone calls.

The boogie woogie beat of piano keys sets our heels flying inviting us to the old café’ near water’s edge.

Sheltered from winter’s icy breath, bodies sway in rhythmic beats, heels tap on a glistening wooden dance floor in an old café’ near water’s edge.

Weslynn's October/November 2011 Newsletter

Today is November 11, 2011, a day that happens only in one hundred years! What does this mean? Number 11 is a master number which signifies rebirth and new beginnings, a day in which you will be especially focused upon matters of the heart, intuition, inspiration, compassion, tolerance, and partnerships.

Think about taking a chance on the lotto. A number eleven day is said to be lucky due to it’s intense vibrational powers. Now that I think about it, when playing Craps, an eleven is just as good as a seven on the first roll of the dice.

Christmas is approaching and two of my novels are on sale! “Skin Deep” and “Prophecies of the Ancients” are now on sale at half price. Please click on the Order Form to the left. Both novels will soon be out of print.

All of you have asked when “Love to Dance” will be published. Due to my extremely busy schedule, I don’t expect the novel to be completed until late 2012. Some novels take six months to write, others ten years. But, I know you will love it when it is released.

Happy Thanksgiving to all of you!

Sapphire Seas
By Weslynn McCallister

Endless steamy days brought a longing for the cool breezes of her beloved highlands; yet, as a brilliant tangerine sun melted into a sea of sapphire blue, she sensed a quickening.

A soft breeze, filled with the scent of gardenias caressed her as the promised hour of an unexpected romance arrived.

Long and lean, with silken hair the shade of midnight, he strolled along water’s edge. With one glance into his sparkling green eyes, her heart was lost.

As he took her hand in his, she knew at once, she was his forevermore. Long would she remain in a gardenia scented land, caressed by warm tropical breezes and an unexpected love.

Weslynn's September 2011 Newsletter

Now that the hurricane season is becoming more and more active, I am including some information in regard to hurricane preparedness. First of all, if you don’t know what to expect, following is an explanation for the strength of the storms:

  • Cat. 1 74-95 mph winds with a 4-5 ft. storm surge and minimal damage.
  • Cat. 2 96-110 mph winds with 6-8 ft. storm surge and moderate damage
  • Cat. 3 111-130 mph winds with a 9-12ft. Storm surge and major damage
  • Cat. 4 131-165 mph winds with 13-18 ft. storm surge and severe damage
  • Cat. 5 155+mph. with 18+ storm surge and catastrophic damage.

Warnings: Tropical Storm Watch - Issued when tropical storm conditions may threaten the area within 36 hours and when the storm is not predicted to intensify to hurricane force.

Tropical Storm Warning - winds of 39-73 mph. can be expected in areas of a coastline within the next 24 hours.

Hurricane Watch- hurricane conditions may threaten a specific area within 36 hours.

If you decide to stay put during the storm, stock up on emergency water, food, batteries for radio and flashlights and first aid supplies. Your water and power may be out for days… maybe a week or two. Personally, I prefer to evacuate if the storm is a Cat. 3 or more. Evacuate to me means… go to Las Vegas! Okay, anywhere in the middle of the U.S. will do. I don’t like the howling winds that sound like demons prancing on the rooftop (if you still have one left!)

My poem this month is brand new and will, more than likely go into my next Romancing the Zodiac book. The poem has already been copywrited as all of my work is.

Jupiter in the Modest Palace of The Virgin Goddess
By Weslynn McCallister

Jupiter, benefactor of the Zodiac, visiting the modest palace of Virgo offers her the gift of rising above her expected station in life.

Generous and kind, Jupiter offers an analytical mind suited for practical scientific and philosophical investigation.

Studying natural laws, possessing wisdom, and honesty, she is selective with her friendships often choosing those who study the occult.

Jupiter, God of abundance, offers her benefits through her employees, literature, and investments.

If afflicted, when Jupiter resides in Virgo, disorders of the blood, liver, bowels and hips may result.

As of June 1, we have entered Hurricane Season. Where I live, in South Florida, we are particularly vulnerable as are residents throughout the southern United States. Be sure to make your preparations and plans should a hurricane focus its target upon your area. Following, is an award winning poem that I wrote some years ago which was featured as a centerfold in a literary magazine.

Andrew, Son of Hades
By Weslynn McCallister

Tiny sandpipers skittered to ocean's edge playing a never ending game with the incoming tide.

A warm tropical breeze, sweetly scented, filled the heavy air. Sun-kissed bodies reclined on golden beaches unaware of his malevolent approach.

Spawned by Hades, God of Destruction, he crept across the Atlantic, weak in appearance.

Seizing gifts of Poseidon and Zeus, gaining strength, he demanded to be christened. Man, bowing in homage, acknowledged him as "Andrew."

Nearing his destiny, on a late summer's eve, swaying palms bowed deeply in respect of his approach, sensing death was near. Unleashing his rage, he screeched and churned demonic winds, destroying all in his path, hastening onward.

As the sun rose over the sea, a once tropical paradise appeared, now transformed into desolation and rubble.

Sadness and despair hovered over the land as tears fell. Lingering still was the aura of the son of Hades.

Those with darkness in their souls looted devastated brothers, coldly ignoring their plight.

With courage and determination, men rose from despair to rebuild shattered lives. Many, with hearts of gold, came from afar to their aid.

Andrew, Son of Hades, God of Destruction, will long be remembered for his devastation of a once lush and tropical paradise.

Speaking of Astrology, most of you who are Cardinal Signs (Aries, Cancer, Libra, and Capricorn) will be happy to know that at last, Mars has Moved into the sign of Taurus and on May 16 Mercury will also depart the sign Of Aries. Mars and Aries, both transiting Aries consecutively resulted in many temper flare ups, accidents particularly for the above signs as well as violent weather.

Spring is upon us with all of the beautiful flowers blooming and out-of doors activities beckoning. If; however, you are a central or southern coastal you may want to begin preparing for hurricane season.

Happy Birthday, Taureans and Gemini!

Biography of a Poet
By Weslynn McCallister

Slight of frame, flashing eyes of hazel, hair of golden wheat, her attitudes are as ageless as time.

Hopelessly romantic, she is suspended in the ages as she passionately pursues all that life so generously offers.

A seeker of knowledge, devoted to the arts, she shyly, but aggressively sweeps through the canvass of life.

Bound to those she loves, with ties fiercely held, her karma unfolds.

An astrologer of days gone by, a traveler through time, her spirit is as free as the wind as she dances through her life's path.

Weslynn's April 2011 Newsletter

Happy Easter!

My apologies to all of you this month for being so late writing my newsletter this month. Due to many unexpected incidents and mis-communications occurring this month I have been unavoidably delayed.

Good News! Mercury will finally turn into its direct position on the 23 of April. By May 11, Mercury will move into the sign of Taurus. This is especially good news for all Aries, Cancer’s, Libra’s and Capricorns. We have all been affected by this planets retrograde in the transiting the fire sign of Aries. Have you noticed all of the traffic snarls, confrontations and miscommunications? This is one of the results of a Mercury Retrograde in Aries. You may read more about this in my book, "Romancing the Zodiac-Book Two" just as soon as it is released by the publisher.

Happy Birthday to all Aries and Taurus!

My poem for the month is "Sanctuary," an award winning poem which appears in my free-verse poetry book, "Shifting Sands." Copies of this book are available through Amazon.com.

Sanctuary
By Weslynn McCallister

Reclining upon a sugar white beach, shaded by softly swaying palms, my eye was drawn by a tall blue heron striding elegantly through the sanctuary.

Searching for delicacies as he wades through the clear sapphire lagoon, a lone fisherman stands upon a worn pier, patiently awaiting his catch.

As the miracle of wildlife and nature unfold, my spirit is renewed the hum of a faraway city forgotten.

Weslynn's March 2011 Newsletter

Finally, "Romancing the Zodiac - Book Two" is on its way to publication! Book Two contains an Introduction to astrology, free verse zodiac poetry for each sign and for each planet falling in that sign. Herbal remedies, suggested gifts and ballroom dances are included as well as a glimpse of your most compatible signs which will be found in the poems. Vagabond Days
By Weslynn McCallister

Longing to be but a vagabond, carefree of responsibilities, I long to explore far away lands in southern hemispheres.

Setting sail on sapphire seas, gliding over treasures, long ago buried, the spirit of Jose Gaspar hovers near.

Tropical isles, laden with tall swaying palms, guava trees bearing succulent fruits await my untimely arrival.

Natives, dancing to the drum of ancient rhythms, beckon me to join their frenzied beats.

As a winters sun sets, casting golden shadows, laughing children beckon me to gather ‘round a warm campfire.

With a twinkle in my eye, the spirit of Jose Gaspar hovers near as stories are told of vagabond days.

News Flash! The Expresso Book Machine powered by Ingram, Google and Xerox prints and binds a books text pages and its cover within 3-5 minutes. It is now available in bookstores in New York, London, the Harvard Bookstore in Canada and is expected to spread like wildfire. You may read an article about it in Publishers Weekly at http://tinyurl.com/PWexpresso. I love this idea… a book that will always be in stock! My suspense novel, “Never Trust a Stranger,” by Weslynn McCallister, writing as Jamie Cortland will soon be added soon to the Espresso Book Machine.

"Never Trust a Stranger" is now available on the Kindle as well as in soft over and paperback and also available as a Google e-book. As for my work in progress, it is going smoothly and I hope to be finished with my first draft by late fall. First Draft? Yes, then maybe second draft. All manuscripts need to be written and re-written to achieve your best work… even Hemingway’s. So, if you are working on your first book, don’t be disappointed if you don’t receive the result you had hoped for on your first draft.

Tomorrow, the Sun moves into the sign of sensitive and charming Pisces, the astrological sing which produces so many poets, musicians, and film stars as well as novels of romance. Uranus, the ruler of sudden changes will finally move out of Pisces and into the sign of Aries in early March. Then, Pisces and Pisces rising (ascendants) be able to stop making abrupt changes and finally settle down. My poem for this month is Pisces Rising.

Pisces Rising
By Weslynn McCallister

Daughter of Neptune, escaping a bitter childhood, has found solace in the solitary confinement of her room.

Writing stories of fantasies and magical places, she listens to music, reads and draws. Developing her creative abilities, she escapes her unappreciative family.

Often weak, born with a physical defect, she is a fragile child. Of medium height and size, her complexion is pale, her hair fine.

Of a mutable rising sign, Neptune’s daughter is restless, changeable and has a strong affinity for Sagittarius. A kind and good friend, she is nevertheless unreliable, Drifting in and out, never staying as a permanent fixture.

Particular about the color of her clothing rather than style, she slowly meanders downtown, Often pausing to gaze into windows of Metaphysical shops.

Canny, hard working, she is always searching for the misty world behind the veil.

Weslynn's January 2011 Newsletter

Happy New Year Everyone! In Chinese Astrology, this is the year of The Metal Rabbit. Lucky, for those of us who are rabbits.

Since I don't know much about Chinese Astrology, it might be well to cast our eyes to the heavens. You may have seen the a partial eclipse of the Sun which took place on January 4, 2011 at 13 degrees, forty-nine minutes of Capricorn. A solar eclipse falling in this sign is said to promote traditionalism and conservatism on a wide scale. Ambition, discipline, and pragmatism is expected to be the trend until the next solar eclipse which falls on June 1.

With the arrival 2011, all planets are forging ahead to include Mercury, the planet of communication and transportation. Late degree Pisces, Gemini, Virgo, and Sagittarius will be making dramatic changes until after Uranus has moved into Aries on March 11 where it will remain until May of 2018.

Good news! "Skin Deep," by Weslynn McCallister, writing as Jamie Cortland, and "Prophecies of the Ancients" by Weslynn McCallister are now available on the Kindle!

Wishing all of you a successful and happy 2011!

My poem for January is "The Band."
